What to do if bitten by a snake: don't believe the movies - you don't need to suck out the venom

Vipers can choose a forest, a clearing overgrown with grass, or even a park located near a residential building as their habitat.

If you are careless and don't notice a snake, there is a high risk that you will be bitten. What should you do if this happens?

First of all, it is worth refuting the myth that first aid involves sucking out poison from a wound - if there are microcracks in the mouth of the "savior", the poison will easily penetrate his body, and then two people may need help.

First Aid for a Snake Bite

If your encounter with a snake ends unsuccessfully, the first thing you should do is call an ambulance for the victim.

While the medics are rushing to bring help, try to remove the poison using an extractor (you can buy it on the marketplace). If you don't have the device with you, skip this step.

Immobilize the bitten person to slow down the rate at which the poison spreads throughout the body.

Provide plenty of fluids and, in case of an allergic reaction, give antihistamines.

It is not recommended to apply a tourniquet, as it may worsen after its removal.
