How Teeth Whitening Products Work
There are many whitening products that are effective, but almost all of them – both those used by professional dentists and those that can be used at home – contain hydrogen peroxide.
Hydrogen peroxide demineralizes enamel (the opposite process of mineralization), i.e. it opens the pores of the teeth and interacts with the pigment that has become clogged during meals. During the reaction, it breaks down into free oxygen radicals, which destroy the color pigments.
Unfortunately, the effect of using a whitening product is temporary - as soon as you stop using it, your teeth return to their original color.
Because of this, teeth have to be whitened again and again. The problem is that in the process of such long-term use of whitening agents, teeth and gums are damaged.
To keep your teeth white and healthy, it is important to do two things regularly: brushing and flossing.
