Caesarean section, like any other surgical intervention, can have undesirable consequences.

To minimize the likelihood of their occurrence, use the quick guide in this article.

Immediately after surgery

As a rule, doctors recommend starting to move 4-6 hours after the operation. If you are not walking, but lying down, change your position.

Although you will likely experience pain now, you will thank yourself in the future because this behavior results in fewer complications (including thrombosis and adhesions) and faster healing.

To reduce the load that the abdominal muscles in the suture area are currently receiving and to reduce pain, wear a bandage.

Make every effort to establish breastfeeding.

Do not forget to drink more water, as blood loss is inevitable during surgery, and drinking plenty of fluids is also important for lactation.

It is worth carrying the baby in a sling - this way the load will be evenly distributed on the muscles of the shoulder girdle and back, and the abdominal muscles will be less exposed to it.

In the first months after surgery

You should not tolerate pain. If the pain in the suture area lasts more than 2-3 weeks, this is a reason to see a doctor.

In addition, you will need to dose your physical activity (at least during the first month) and not forget about hygiene – the suture should be treated regularly.
