The State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Belarus calls on drivers and pedestrians to be careful in difficult weather conditions.

The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on Telegram.

Traffic police recommendations for drivers and pedestrians due to worsening weather

Today in some regions of Belarus there is rain with wet snow. In combination with near-zero air temperature on some sections of roads the formation of black ice is possible.

The State Traffic Inspectorate strongly recommends that drivers change their tires to winter ones now.

The State Traffic Inspectorate also calls on drivers to take road conditions into account when choosing a speed, to avoid acceleration, deceleration, abrupt steering movements, and to reduce speed in advance in places where ice forms due to frequent braking: in front of speed bumps, pedestrian crossings, stops, railroad crossings, etc.

Before the trip, you need to clear the car of snow, especially the lights and glass, check if the windshield wipers are working, and fill the windshield washer reservoir with antifreeze.

The State Traffic Inspectorate calls on pedestrians to wear high-visibility clothing in precipitation conditions and to use reflective elements in the dark.

You should cross the road only in permitted places and after making sure that you are allowed to cross. You should wait for the crossing one meter from the edge of the road.
