Minsk Automobile Plant buses may begin to be assembled in the Smolensk region of Russia.
At least, the governor of the named region, Vasily Anokhin, who met with Alexander Lukashenko in Minsk, expressed interest in this.
In general, according to the head of the regional administration, Smolensk is very keen to cooperate with Belarus in the industrial sector.
He pointed out that there are “many cooperative links” in place.
Both in Belarus and in the Smolensk region there are many enterprises that are building cooperative chains, Belta quotes the governor as saying.
He added that he had separately discussed with Alexander Lukashenko the implementation of the MAZ investment project, which involves the production of apron buses, in the Smolensk region and the development of a service center.
Anoshin reported that over the past year and a half, his region has purchased about 55 buses and about 60 units of MAZ road equipment.
In addition, the meeting touched upon the topic of implementing a project in agricultural machinery manufacturing jointly with the Bobruiskagromash enterprise.
This is also significant and important; our farmers use more than 70% of Belarusian-made equipment, the governor said.
The issue of implementing a joint project with Belkommunmash to restore trams was also considered.
