From November 27 to December 5, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate of Belarus will be holding a national preventive campaign “Change your style to winter!”
And on November 29, a Single Road Safety Day will be held under the same motto.
BELTA reports this with reference to the Main Directorate of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
How the traffic police action will be carried out
As the State Traffic Inspectorate reported, the campaign is aimed at preventing accidents in winter conditions and promoting the use of winter tires.
Until December 1, the State Traffic Inspectorate will inform drivers about the main risks and safety threats, and remind them of the need to change tires.
From December 1, traffic police officers will begin checking the preparation of vehicles for use in the winter period, in particular, the presence of winter tires.
The condition of wheels and tires will also be monitored, the State Traffic Inspectorate clarified.
They reminded that driving with summer tires in winter entails administrative liability in the form of a fine of up to 1 BV.
A similar fine is provided for driving with faulty wheels/tires.
For a repeated violation within a year, a fine of 2 to 5 base units is provided.
