From October 18 to 21, the State Traffic Inspectorate of Belarus will hold a national preventive campaign “Become more visible in the dark!”
The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on Telegram.
How will the traffic police campaign “Become more visible in the dark!” take place?
As the State Traffic Inspectorate reported, the problem of road traffic injuries becomes more pressing in the fall.
In September, 19 pedestrians and cyclists were killed in road accidents, 137 were injured.
In order to ensure the safety of vulnerable road users, the State Traffic Inspectorate will hold the specified event from October 18 to 21.
It is intended to once again draw attention to the need for strict adherence to the rules of safe behavior on the road and the use of reflective elements.
The State Traffic Inspectorate reminds: a reflector makes a person visible in the light of headlights at a distance of 130 to 400 m.
As part of the campaign, traffic police inspectors will conduct informational and explanatory work and will strengthen control over compliance with traffic regulations at night.
The traffic police will be looking not only at pedestrians and cyclists, but also at drivers who exceed the speed limit and violate the rules for crossing pedestrian crossings.
Particular attention will be paid to identifying drunk road users.
In regions with the most tense traffic conditions, raid groups of the special traffic police unit "Strela" will be deployed.
