Russia has toughened the punishment for concealing numbers

In Russia, penalties for concealing vehicle license plates have been tightened.

This is provided for by the law signed on October 14 by the country's president, Vladimir Putin.

The law was published on the Official Internet Portal of Legal Information of the Russian Federation, reports TUT NOVOSTI .

How Russia Tightened Penalties for Hiding Number Plates

Now, the use of devices that hide or modify license plates entails the deprivation of a driver's license for a period of one to one and a half years with confiscation of the device.

For the same period of time, a driver's license will be revoked for repeated driving without license plates or using concealing materials.

Previously, driving with illegible or dirty license plates could result in a warning or a fine of 500 rubles.

For driving without license plates, concealing or intentionally changing license plates, you could be fined 5,000 rubles or lose your license for a period of one to three months.

For installing fake license plates, a fine of 2,500 rubles was imposed; for driving with fake license plates, a license suspension for a period of 6 months to a year was imposed.

The new regulations come into force from today.
