There have been more frequent cases of fraud when Belarusians buy cars abroad.
In particular, there have been cases of fraud when gullible compatriots purchased cars abroad through the services of specialized firms.
The press service of the State Customs Committee warns citizens about this in its official Telegram channel.
The last ten requests from buyers who fell for the scammers were received by the Gomel customs office, the report says.
In these statements, their authors ask for confirmation of assurances that the cars they ordered through car “suppliers” are in the customs control zone.
They also ask to confirm the authenticity of the documents sent to them allegedly from the Gomel customs office.
The State Customs Committee states that there is no information about the vehicles specified in citizens’ requests in the customs authorities’ information systems.
And the documents submitted by the applicants are fake, which is visible to the naked eye, the department noted.
As an example, letters from the “Gomel Customs” published by scammers are given.
They send them to buyers as confirmation of the fact that the car is located in Belarus.
But on these letters – from the “Gomel Customs” – there is a stamp of the “Brest Central Customs”.
In connection with such cases of fraud, the State Customs Committee called on Belarusians to be extremely careful.
Do not transfer funds to fraudsters' accounts allegedly for the purpose of paying customs duties and other payments! - the customs service summed up.
