Often people who decide to put their winter clothes in order on their own face a serious problem.

The filling in a down jacket washed in a washing machine may form a lump. Unfortunately, this rule works with both natural and artificial materials.

If you still don’t plan on turning to a dry cleaner for help, at least throw a couple of tennis balls into the washing machine drum along with the down jacket.

They will help the fluff stay in place.

But if for some reason the life hack turned out to be useless or you learned about it too late, it’s worth trying to break up the lumps so you don’t have to update your wardrobe unscheduled.

First, wait until the down jacket dries, and then stuff it into a vacuum bag.

Use the special valve to extract the air. Now that everything is ready, turn on the reverse feed function on the vacuum cleaner and pump the air back.

This procedure should be repeated several times, but this is not the end - when you take your outerwear out of the bag, lay it out on a flat surface and smooth out the fabric using a narrow attachment designed for cleaning furniture.

Thanks to this trick, you can straighten out even the filler that has undergone severe shrinkage.

Sometimes, as experienced housewives say, a hair dryer helps to get rid of lumps. If you are going to use this method, you need to turn on the cold air and, directing the flow at the clothes, wait until the filler is filled with air.
