Throughout the fall and until the very end of spring, apples remain the main source of vitamins and nutrients available to all buyers.
Experts advise buying local apples. They are believed to be more beneficial for the body, and they do not contain harmful substances that imported fruits are treated with.
We will tell you what other conditions you need to take into account when buying apples.
Choose fruits without spots and dots. These apples will not last long due to the process of rotting.
The fruit should be firm and the skin smooth. If the flesh is loose and the skin wrinkled, the apple will not only spoil quickly, but will also be tasteless.
Apples ripened under normal conditions should have a distinct aroma.
If there is no aroma, then the taste of the apple will be the same - none.
But in the case of imported apples, this advice does not always work, and all because of chemical treatment and wax coating.
Remember that apples can be early (summer), autumn – they can be stored for up to 3-4 months if the necessary conditions are created, and winter (late).
The latter are collected at the end of autumn, not always ripe. They are stored for up to 8-10 months.
