Chlorinated lime or simply chlorine is often used by housewives to whiten or disinfect various surfaces.
But there is no place for such aggressive chemicals in the process of washing the refrigerator.
Refrigerator manufacturers recommend using more gentle cleaning methods – special cleaning agents based on alcohol, surfactants, acetic acid, solvent or hydrogen peroxide.
If you don’t accept store-bought chemicals, opt for baking soda or vinegar.
Few products can compare with bleach, which has the ability to whiten, kill bacteria and eliminate unpleasant odors.
However, its use for cleaning the refrigerator is not recommended for several reasons.
Firstly, the refrigerator may have poor ventilation, which will cause the chlorine smell to persist for a long time.
Secondly, using bleach can damage the refrigerator's coating or cause damage to refrigeration equipment parts.
And thirdly, if it gets on your skin and mucous membranes, or if you inhale chlorine vapors, you can get a chemical burn.
