Many people store all their vegetables and fruits together and don’t even realize that they shouldn’t do this.
We'll tell you which vegetables and fruits don't get along on the same shelf in the refrigerator.
First, cucumbers and tomatoes. Tomatoes emit ethylene, a gas that accelerates the ripening of fruits.
Cucumbers are very sensitive to it; next to tomatoes they will quickly wilt.
For the same reason, cucumbers cannot be stored with bananas and melons.
Bananas are the record-breakers for ethylene emissions. To prevent them from spoiling other fruits, wrap the stalks in foil or cling film.
Sweet peppers also emit large amounts of ethylene. It is not recommended to store them with carrots and beets - their taste deteriorates.
In addition, apples and oranges emit a lot of ethylene. These fruits do not tolerate each other's company. Apples also cannot be stored next to pumpkins.
As for potatoes, it is strictly forbidden to store them next to onions, the tubers will quickly bloom.
