A window sill located in a small kitchen is often used as a shelf.

However, many things are strictly not recommended to be stored near the window. So, let's consider their list in more detail.

Food products

The manufacturer places information on the product packaging about the rules for storing it. You need to listen to this recommendation, because only in this case the ingredients will not spoil.

It is better to put the products in a cool place with normal humidity, they should not be exposed to sunlight. As you understand, the window sill does not meet these requirements.

Fragile glass items

Do you value a beautiful vase or a set of glasses made of exquisite crystal? Then you should not put such items on the windowsill. They can fall to the floor due to a draft and shatter into thousands of pieces.

Pets also like to spend time on windowsills. Do not place candles near the window, as the sun's rays will contribute to the rapid deformation of the wax.

Household chemicals and cosmetics

The window sill is not suitable for storing aerosols and perfumes. This is due to the fact that the air in the corresponding area is quite hot.

As a result, the quality of cosmetics will suffer, because they are subject to chemical reactions. In addition, the product may explode, which will cause a strong fright.

Household appliances

During their operation, the multicooker, microwave oven, electric kettle will emit steam. As a result, a large crack may appear on the glass due to the difference in temperature conditions.

Also, high humidity levels contribute to the formation of condensation on the frames, which will become moldy. If the window sill is made of wood, hot air will contribute to its deformation.

Glasses and reflective surfaces

The mirror, which is used for applying makeup, and the glasses are supplemented with a surface for magnifying the image.

You know from school that a magnifying glass can start a fire. Of course, there won't be a serious fire, but the risk of melting plastic blinds is not excluded.

Photographs

The paint applied to the special paper cannot withstand contact with the sun's rays. In just a few weeks, the images will become faded and barely distinguishable.

If the photos are valuable to you, it is better to put them in an album. It is much better to store photos in digital format, as this will reliably protect them from damage.

Aquariums and cages

Animals are very sensitive to drafts and direct sunlight. For example, chinchillas catch a cold if the temperature is below +14 degrees. If it is too hot, your pet will get sunstroke.

The water in the aquarium will “bloom” more often if it is installed on a windowsill, since ultraviolet rays activate the process of photosynthesis.
