White coating on flower pots, mostly ceramic ones, is a common sight for gardeners. And few people think about where it comes from and how to remove it.

Sometimes they may talk about hard water and other household troubles, but it doesn't go any further. We'll tell you how to remove white plaque using improvised means.

Reasons

A coating appears on pots due to improper application of fertilizers (excessive amounts), incorrectly selected pot size (the plant does not have time to absorb moisture and nutrients), and excessive watering.

How to fight

First of all, you need to correct the errors and normalize watering.

But to get rid of calcium deposits, you will have to work.

You will need a brush with hard bristles and 9% vinegar. The flower will have to be removed from the pot for a while. After cleaning, do not forget to wash off the vinegar residue.

If a coating has appeared on the soil, the top 2 cm should be renewed. The rest of the soil should be loosened, dried and the watering schedule should be followed in the future.
