How to properly wash a down jacket in a washing machine so as not to damage it

When cold weather or snow sets in, you need to keep warm. The most common winter outerwear is a down jacket.
To avoid being left without outerwear on the eve of the cold weather, we suggest that you familiarize yourself with the rules for proper washing, drying and preparation of a down jacket.
First of all, read the instructions on the down jacket, which indicate that machine washing is allowed.
If not, then limit yourself to hand washing to preserve your clothes.
If machine washing is allowed, then you need to buy at least 5 tennis balls and a detergent for washing down jackets, because regular washing powder will leave streaks on the fabric.
Treat the dirtiest areas with a special detergent to help remove dirt. Remove anything that might have remained from the pockets, fasten the buttons and zippers, and seal the Velcro. Turn the down jacket inside out.
The washing mode that is best for a down jacket
This could be either a special mode for down jackets, which is available in many machines, or a delicate wash mode.
It is important that the water is not warmer than 30 degrees and be sure to turn on an additional rinse. Do not forget about the spin! To avoid knocking down the filler in the down jacket, turn off this function during washing.
You also need to dry your down jacket correctly.
Before hanging your down jacket to dry, unbutton the buttons and zippers, turn the pockets inside out and smooth out the jacket with your hands.
Hang it on a hanger and let the water drain and dry on its own.
Do not speed up the process by using a hair dryer or placing it on a radiator!
