If there is too much bread left over, many people realize that they will end up throwing it away or giving it to homeless animals.

Why not store bread in the freezer? The storage technology is quite simple, and the bread will retain its taste.

What You Need to Know About Freezing

It seems that after freezing the taste of bread will change and it will not be possible to consume it for its intended purpose. One can recall a simple fact: any bakery products can be frozen for 3 months at a temperature of -15 degrees.

At low temperatures, fermentation and crystallization processes stop. There are a few more features to remember.

1. The pulp does not lose moisture.

2. Mold spores die.

3. All taste qualities are preserved.

In order for bread to retain all its qualities during the freezing process, it is necessary to follow the basic rules and recommendations of experts.

Freezing rules

Bakery products should not be kept in the freezer for more than 4 months. Here are some tips:

• it makes sense to freeze only fresh baked goods. Of course, if you freeze a stale loaf, nothing terrible will happen, but there is no particular sense;

• it is advisable to use thick plastic bags. If you don’t have them, you can use parchment paper or regular foil, but they need to be wrapped tightly;

• it is important to achieve complete hermetic sealing. If this is not done, the bread will begin to absorb odors from other products stored next to it in the freezer;

• if the bakery products are still hot, there is no point in placing them in the freezer;

• repeating the procedure twice is unacceptable, in this case the taste of the bread will undergo significant changes;

• a sticker with the freezing date must be attached to the packaging.

The rules for freezing are simple, so everyone can perform the procedure correctly.

How to defrost

A typical mistake many people make is that they are in a hurry. There is a simple rule: bread should defrost at room temperature. It is unacceptable to speed up or somehow influence this process. You need to wait about 2 hours for defrosting.

Some people recommend speeding up defrosting using an oven. However, it is worth remembering that bread will gradually lose moisture under the influence of high temperatures.
