If you find half a lemon on the shelf of your refrigerator that was sent there a couple of weeks ago to live out its days, put it to good use.

Clean the kettle

Lemons are the best way to remove limescale from your kettle. To do this, fill the container with water and add a handful of finely chopped lemon zest.

Feel free to put the kettle on the fire and wait until its contents boil, then remove it from the stove. After an hour, thoroughly rinse its "insides". If there is heavy contamination, the operation will have to be repeated several times.

Get rid of the odor from your trash can

Instead of inhaling the unpleasant "aroma" that your trash can emits every time, wipe the sides of your trash can with lemon peel.

This treatment is destructive to the bacteria that cause the repulsive smell.

Disinfect your cutting board

Since the sour fruit is known for its antibacterial properties, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to use them for their intended purpose - for example, to clean a cutting board.

Rub the surface with a piece of citrus and leave it like that for a while, then rinse thoroughly under running water from the tap and wipe dry.
