Every person sweats during intense physical activity or in high temperatures.
For normal thermoregulation, the body is capable of producing up to 3 liters of sweat during the day.
Sweat contains various organic substances and salts, which leave stains on clothing in the armpit area, being absorbed into the fabric.
Such stains emit a characteristic odor and look very unaesthetic. On white items, they stand out with a yellow tint and are extremely difficult to wash off with regular powders. How can you get rid of these marks without throwing away your favorite item?
It is worth noting that fresh stains can be removed during the first wash, but with old stains the situation is more complicated.
There are several secrets to help you deal with them.
1. Small sweat stains are treated with a napkin soaked in a three percent solution of hydrogen peroxide over the entire surface of the stain. After this, the product is thoroughly rinsed in water and dried in the sun.
2. Dissolve table salt and ammonia in a glass of water. Take one teaspoon of each of these ingredients. Soak the part of the clothing with the stain in this solution for several hours. Then rinse and wash the laundry.
This method is suitable for items made from cotton and linen fabrics.
3. Table salt is also used to remove sweat stains from wool and silk items. Dissolve 1 tbsp of salt in a glass of water and wipe the stain with a cloth soaked in the resulting solution.
Leave for a while, then rinse in boiled warm water. Rinsing in boiled water will help restore the color and shine to the silk product.
4. If the stains have been there for a long time, ammonia alcohol and gasoline will help remove them from the fabric. First, treat the material with gasoline, then wipe it thoroughly with a sponge or napkin soaked in ammonia. Pay special attention to the contours of the contamination. If the treatment is insufficient, they may reappear after washing. After this procedure, wash the clothes in a solution of regular washing powder.
5. Aspirin can help remove sweat stains. Take a couple of acetylsalicylic acid tablets and crush them to form a powder, which must be mixed in a glass of warm water. Wipe the stain with a napkin soaked in this solution and leave for 2 hours. Then wash with powder.
6. If stains appear on a light or colored wool item, they can be removed using a soap solution and a soft brush.
Using it, carefully treat the stain and rinse the item in warm water until the soap solution is completely washed out.
The wet product is treated with a solution of oxalic acid (1 teaspoon per glass of water) in the place where the stain appears. Rinse again after a couple of hours.
7. For colored wool items, the method of removing sweat stains using White Spirit is also suitable. Mix ammonia and White Spirit at a ratio of two to four and apply the resulting mixture to the stain. After a few hours, rinse in warm water.
This method is also suitable for light silk items with a slight change in dosage. For items made of this material, the components are mixed in equal parts.
