Belarusians have been warned: from Thursday, September 19, the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate will begin preventive measures in the country.

They will affect not only car drivers, but also cyclists, pedestrians, and citizens using personal mobility devices.

The press service of the Minsk State Traffic Inspectorate reported this on its official Telegram channel.

It is noted that these measures are aimed at ensuring the safety of vulnerable road users.

This is all due to the beginning of the autumn season and the reduction in daylight hours, the department noted.

As for the dates, the events will take place from September 19 to 24. During this period, law enforcement officers will remind road users of the traffic rules.

There will also be raids, where special attention will be paid to violations by pedestrians (including drunk ones), as well as bicycles and SPMs when driving through pedestrian crossings, the State Traffic Inspectorate noted.

As for drivers, they will be checked, among other things, for compliance with the rules for crossing pedestrian crossings.

The press service emphasized: “the issue is relevant”: since the beginning of 2024, 67 pedestrians and 27 cyclists have died in road accidents in the country.

Moreover, in every fifth case the tragedy was associated with a road user who was intoxicated.
