Advertisements about “gifts” from “kind people” appear in home chats: they offer household appliances and furniture for free.
In fact, there is a great danger lurking here for those who agree to accept the “gift”.
All because scammers are at work. This is their new scheme to deceive citizens, as the Minsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate warns in its official Telegram channel.
By sending out corresponding messages to house or district chats, the villains declare that they are giving away unnecessary things.
Those who are interested are invited to meet in person in a few days.
But suddenly, on the eve of the meeting, they say that due to the departure, the equipment can only be sent by courier.
They offer to “arrange delivery” and install an application to track the parcel.
This very application leads to sad consequences for gullible citizens, since it “mirrors your phone”.
What does this mean? That scammers get the opportunity to see your correspondence, notes, and other information.
And if passwords for applications, bank cards, email, etc. are stored on the smartphone, then fraudsters will gain access to them as well.
Therefore, you should not install any third-party applications from strangers - it is better to refuse "courier deliveries" of things.
The police ask Belarusians to be attentive and warn their friends and relatives about this fraudulent scheme.
