For a long time, the largest pizza was considered to be the one made in December 2012 in Rome.

Its “author” is the chef of the NIPfood restaurant, Dovilio Nardi.

The dish even received its own name - the pizza was called Ottavia in honor of the Emperor Octavian Augustus.

Another notable feature of the “record holder” is that it was 100% gluten-free.

But this record was eventually broken by a US blogger known as Airrack in collaboration with Pizza Hut.

Together they managed to make a pizza with an area of 1299.71 square meters.

It was housed in one of the halls located in the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This culinary masterpiece required the use of 6,193 kg of dough, 2,244 kg of sweet sauce, 3,992 kg of cheese and 630,496 pieces of pepperoni salami.

What happened to the pizza after the presentation? According to good tradition, it was divided into parts and donated to the charities of the City of Angels.

For reference

Pizza is a traditional Italian dish, originally a round yeast-leavened flatbread baked with a topping of tomato sauce, cheese and often other ingredients such as meat, vegetables, mushrooms and other products.
