The owner of the longest eyelashes among women is a Chinese woman, Yu Jianjia.

They grow like this on their own, and if they fall out, new ones grow just as long that they simply lie on a woman’s cheeks.

Of course, this phenomenon allowed the Chinese woman to take her place among other record holders in the pages of the Guinness Book of Records.

So, the owner of the longest eyelashes in the world is Yu Jianjia from Changzhou.

In 2016, when the record was registered, her eyelashes reached 12.5 cm in length.

But their growth did not stop there, and five years later one eyelash on the upper eyelid set a new record – 20.5 cm.

From a medical point of view, the phenomenon has no explanation. Eyelashes grow, lie on the cheeks and reach the chin.

Geneticists have no answer to this question either. The Chinese woman was even more surprised when she found out that none of her relatives had such features.

Sometimes they fall out, but they grow back. If you pull them carelessly, they can break.

Jianjia claims that this characteristic of hers does not cause any trouble in her daily life, but rather serves as a source of joy.

For reference

Eyelashes are hairs that line the top and bottom of the eye in mammals.
