During the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, much has been said about the importance of vitamin D, the sunshine vitamin.

What was it like to hear such recommendations for residents of cities where the sun shines almost on schedule?

Perhaps the city of Tórshvan is the most disadvantaged in this regard.

The city is the capital of the Faroe Islands, an autonomous region of the Kingdom of Denmark.

It is a large settlement located on the south-eastern coast of the island of Streymoy.

Translated into Russian, Torshavn sounds like "Thor's harbor."

The settlement was founded in the 10th century and named after the god of thunder and lightning.

But such powerful patronage of higher powers did not affect the illumination in the least.

The fact is that the number of sunny days here is literally counted by the hour, and the sun illuminates the local valleys for only 884 hours a year.

The only place where things are worse is on the Norwegian island of Jan Mayen.

There are only 823 hours of sunshine per year here.

Earlier we talked about the largest candy in the world.
