A cat named Sophie, who lives with her owner in California, USA, has found herself on the pages of the Guinness Book of Records.

We can thank her fur for this – the purring cat was recognized as the owner of the longest fur among domestic cats.

According to measurements taken, the length of the hairs on the animal's tail is 26 cm.

This figure allowed Sophie to break the previous record.

Let us recall: previously, the title of the longest-haired cat in the world belonged to a pet named Colonel Meow with hair 23 cm long.

According to the cat's owner, Jami Smith, the animal appeared in her house completely by accident.

While the woman was out for a walk, two men approached her, handed her a paper bag and asked if she wanted to take the kitten.

Inside the bag was a tiny kitten, crying, Jami recalls. The American's heart melted at the sight of the animal, and years later, Smith went from being the owner of a stray cat to the owner of a record-breaking cat.

Earlier we told you about the woman with the longest eyelashes in the world.
