There is an unusual landmark in the small British town of Wick.

We are talking about a street called Ebenezer Place.

Almost 20 years ago, the site was included in the Guinness Book of Records. In this reference book, Ebenezer Place is described as “the shortest street in the world.”

This element of the city infrastructure has received this status quite deservedly.

The fact is that the length of the street is only… 2 meters 6 centimeters.

History of Ebenezer Place

In the second half of the 19th century, the Mackays Hotel was built in Wick.

The building has an unusual shape: it is a trapezoid with long sides.

The smallest side of this trapezoid is the facade.

At first, the street located along this façade did not even have a name: it simply did not fit on the maps of the settlement.

However, the situation changed in 2006, when the unusual element of infrastructure was noticed by the compilers of the Guinness Book of Records.

The length of the street was measured. It turned out that the figure was only 206 centimeters.

As a result, the object was included in the directory. And at the same time it received a name - "Ebenezer Place".

Earlier we told you about the narrowest street in the world .
