Some foods that are safe for humans are absolutely not recommended for dogs because they are real poison for our four-legged friends.
Interestingly, the risk of accidental poisoning is higher among dogs than among cats.
At the same time, most poisonings, oddly enough, happen at home – a dog will immediately gobble up everything it finds, while a cat will be more careful in this regard.
For this reason, be careful and never leave the following products unattended if you live with a dog.
Methylxanthines can be found in such products - substances that can cause vomiting, diarrhea, shortness of breath, thirst and urination, hyperactivity, heart rhythm disturbances, tremors, convulsions in dogs. In exceptional cases, the result of eating a tasty treat is a fatal outcome.
Onions, in turn, contain chemicals that cause anemia and destroy red blood cells. As studies show, a dose of 15-30 g/kg can be fatal.
Another plant that is toxic to dogs and can cause damage to red blood cells.
Broccoli contains isothiocyanates. In large doses, they are harmful to animals, which is why we can conclude that in small quantities, this cabbage is acceptable for dogs.
Their toxicity is due to the tartaric acid they contain, which in turn damages the dog's liver and leads to kidney failure. Signs that something is wrong include lethargy, tremors, weakness, and vomiting.
Baked goods (homemade or store-bought) may contain substances that are harmful to dogs: chocolate, xylitol and caffeine.
