One thing that causes great irritation in cats and dogs is… a closed door.
The fact is that pets have a hard time when they cannot move freely around the apartment.
Seeing a closed door, animals begin to feel locked in.
We are talking about a situation when a pet cannot leave a room, and not about a case when a four-legged friend can walk around the apartment, but cannot enter one of the rooms. Although the pet may not like the second situation either.
A cat that sees a closed door becomes stressed. And a dog begins to behave restlessly or even aggressively.
The answer is simple: the door must be opened. Give your four-legged friend the opportunity to freely walk around all the rooms.
Do not deprive your pet of the right to “keep under control” the entire territory of the apartment.
And then the dog or cat will get rid of anxiety and irritation.
It is clear that there may be a section of the apartment where the animal should not appear. This area should be separated by child safety gates.
They are good because they do not make the territory “invisible”, but at the same time they are an excellent barrier: the pet remains calm and does not try to “violate the boundary”.
