Domestic cats, even if they do not go outside for walks, pose a certain threat to the health of the owner.

Pathogens of diseases dangerous to animals and humans can end up in the house on the soles of shoes. But this is not the only threat.

Australian scientists believe that a domestic cat can drive its owner to schizophrenia, MK.RU reports.

As part of their research, they analyzed 17 similar studies that were conducted years earlier in 11 different countries around the world.

This was first discussed in 1995, and modern scientists confirm the fears of their colleagues.

The conclusions are inconsolable - the connection between a cat and the development of schizophrenia is almost a scientific fact.

The mechanism of the disease's development could not be explained with precision.

It is believed that the culprit is not the cats themselves, but the parasites Toxoplasma gondii and Pasteurella multocida.

They enter the human body through a cat bite or other contact with the animal or its excrement.

Once in the human body, they can have a negative impact on the central nervous system and neurotransmitters, which is fraught with neurological disorders and schizophrenia in particular.
