Rosie, a 33-year-old cat who lived in Norwich, UK, has died, the New York Post reports .
It was a fluffy tortoiseshell cat. It lived in the home of 73-year-old Lila Brissette.
The cat was born on June 1, 1991 and came to Ms. Brissette's home from a shelter as a kitten.
Rosie ended up at the shelter after her first owners abandoned her due to the child's allergies.
According to experts, a cat's age of 33 is comparable to reaching 152 years of age in human years.
Shortly before her death, the owner checked her pet for signs of life every day.
Of the currently living pets, the longest-living cat is now 27-year-old Flossie, also from the UK.
However, the longest-living cat in the world was Cream Puff from Texas. She died at the age of 38.
