Socialization of a puppy is key to the healthy development of an adult dog.

If a puppy is socialized correctly, it will be prepared for the outside world as an adult pet.

Diana Belyaeva explains what proper socialization consists of.

It helps the puppy learn not to be afraid of sounds, new objects, unfamiliar dogs and even people. It is important to start socializing the puppy from an early age. Remember that proper socialization is the foundation of adequate behavior of your dog!

After the second vaccination, the puppy goes for a walk for the first time at about 3 months. During quarantine, while the pet is sitting at home, allow it to look out the window, walk on the balcony and listen to sounds. In your arms, you can "visit" shops, quiet cafes, places where there are not many people.

At home, create a suitable environment for your puppy - place different objects around the apartment (start with 3-4, gradually add): old things, cardboard boxes, toilet paper rolls, lick mats.

Use objects that do not make frightening sounds. Play search games. Place pieces around the apartment, and let the puppy search. Alternate active games with relaxing ones.

After quarantine, begin introducing your puppy to the street, but gradually. Start with short walks around the house.

Watch the puppy's behavior and initiative. Do not pick it up if the puppy does not "ask" for it. Increase the time of the walk each time. If the puppy pulls you home, follow it.

Your pet needs to understand that it is safe outside. You can bring grass or twigs home to "acquaint" him while the puppy is in quarantine.

Allow your puppy to interact with dogs of different sizes, colors, and breeds. The puppy learns body language from adult dogs. Monitor your pet's interactions with other dogs. Interrupt overly active games and do not allow rough handling. If the puppy does not want to meet, do not insist.

Teach your puppy hygiene procedures in a playful way. Introduce him gradually to new objects and people, but do not overdo it. Remember that puppy socialization should be constant and systematic.

Spend a little time every day interacting and playing with your pet. Healthy socialization will help your pet become a confident, friendly, and most importantly, happy dog!
