It is believed that of all domestic animals, only cats are afraid of water. Dogs are not only not afraid of water and rain, but also enjoy bathing and water procedures.
But that's what people think. It turns out that some dog breeds may even refuse to go for a walk if it's raining outside.
The reason, according to the researchers, is not a weak immune system or the dog’s fear of getting sick in damp weather.
The fact is that rain does not have the best effect on your pet’s vision, hearing and sense of smell.
Firstly, this concerns breeds with sensitive hearing, that is, those dogs that are able to detect ultrasound.
For them, the sound of rain may seem loud and even irritating.
Secondly, due to the peculiarities of dogs' vision, in cloudy weather and during rain it becomes more difficult for them to control the situation. It is believed that they do not see objects and the picture as a whole so clearly.
Thirdly, during rain, dogs become especially sensitive to smells, of which there are many more on the street than the human nose can sense and distinguish.
Therefore, the dog may not be particularly keen to walk in the rain, if it wants to leave the house at all.
But it is important to remember that pets are not so much afraid of water as they are of the discomfort that arises.
Earlier we talked about whether it is possible to wash a dog with human shampoo .
