Everyone knows that this is the animal's way of regulating its body temperature. But that's not the only reason. Here's what every dog owner should know.
An attentive owner will certainly notice that the dog's tongue is out most of the time. The pet has its own reasons for this.
First, thermoregulation
Different dogs have different coats. Long-haired breeds and dark-colored dogs have the hardest time in hot weather.
To somehow cool the body, dogs stick out their tongue to ensure normal evaporation of sweat.
Secondly, the characteristics of the breed
This applies to dogs with a flat/short muzzle. Due to the structure of the skull, these breeds simply do not have a tongue in their mouth.
Thirdly, pregnancy
Pregnant dogs may develop discomfort due to rapid breathing and compressed organs, causing the dog to stick out its tongue.
Fourthly, health
Stress can also cause a dog to stick out its tongue, and frequent licking of the muzzle is an additional sign.
Another explanation is that the dog is happy to see its owner, which is what caused the excitement.
But there may be much more serious problems, such as bronchitis, sinusitis, stomatitis, pneumonia, and even heart problems or other complications.
