Dogs aren't just carnivores, they're omnivores and actually need plant-based foods to stay healthy and active.
This is why, as ADVICE.NEWS reports, dogs can and should eat vegetables, especially some of them.
Here are some examples of vegetables that should be given to your dog from time to time.
Carrots are a good option for our four-legged friends. The orange root vegetables have a crisp crunch and are a great option for a healthy snack. You can even boil the vegetables a little to make them softer.
Green beans are another safe choice and can be given to dogs as a low-calorie treat or added to food for extra fiber.
Peas are safe for pets and can be served fresh or cooked. Your dog will find vitamins and minerals in them.
Sweet potatoes are a nutritious vegetable that dogs love. You can cook them and offer them as a treat or mash them and mix them into their regular food.
Plain pumpkin, fresh or canned (without added spices or sugar), can be good for pets.
It aids digestion and is often recommended for dogs with upset stomachs.
Spinach is safe for dogs in small amounts and can be a source of vitamins and minerals.
However, it is important not to overfeed your pet spinach, as it contains compounds called oxalates, which can be harmful in large amounts.
Broccoli can be given to dogs in moderation.
It is a good source of fiber and vitamins, but too much broccoli in the diet can cause digestive upset. It is best to offer small cooked pieces.
