There are several dozen varieties of shepherds, and if, for example, the English or Croatian shepherd is far from well-known, then everyone probably knows about the German and Eastern European ones.
How do representatives of these breeds differ from each other?
In terms of appearance, there are few differences between these dogs. Both the German Shepherd and the East European Shepherd are muscular, fit, medium-sized animals with a strong build and soft bones.
But their skeletons, and therefore their sizes, do differ. The East European Shepherd is often larger than the German Shepherd.
If we talk about, so to speak, “internal” characteristics, “Germans” have a softer character, especially when it comes to show-type breeds.
But working German Shepherds cannot be said to be phlegmatic – they are significantly more active. However, this breed has not yet managed to get rid of its viciousness.
Now about the VEO, which is characterized by much less empathy towards humans.
Among the key characteristics of East European Shepherds are stinginess in emotions, self-confidence, calmness, and balance. Their main negative quality is aggressiveness.
