Why does a cat bury its food bowl: there are several reasons for this

If you are a happy cat owner, you have probably seen your furry pet trying to bury a bowl of food, furiously wielding its paw.

Let's figure out why this happens and whether there is reason to worry.

First of all, this behavior can be explained by genetic memory - the ancestors of domestic cats clearly did not have such an abundance of food, so they tried to save it, and at the same time hide it from other animals by burying it in the ground.

In addition, such a habit often appears in street cats, which for some time had to survive on their own, without a caring owner. It was then that stray animals learned to hide their food.

A pet may also crawl along the floor with its paw if it feels like the bowl is in an inappropriate place – for example, in a dirty or too noisy place.

In this case, the cat's movements are not aimed at burying the food, but at moving it.

The reason may also be hidden in dishes that are inconvenient for the purr, so it makes sense to review the plates and buy wide and at the same time not very deep bowls for the kitty.

Finally, this behavior may be one of the symptoms that your pet is sick or stressed. In this situation, the best solution is to show it to the vet.
