Many cats are known to paw at the water before drinking.
And sometimes our pets even drink from their paws. We explain why cats do this.
There are several explanations for this behavior in cats.
According to the first, the cat uses its paw to check the depth of the water (cats have poor vision close up).
If there is little water and the bowl is deep, the cat will most likely prefer to drink from its paw.
Cats really don't like deep, narrow bowls - their whiskers get in the way of drinking.
Secondly, the cat touches the water with its paw to check if it has become stagnant.
Also, sometimes cats dip their paws in water just for fun.
