Before getting a cat, the future owner should familiarize themselves with the characteristics of the breed they like.
The peculiarities are not only in the subtleties of care, feeding, etc. Some breeds are distinguished by excellent health and live longer than 10-12 years.
It is believed that on average cats live 10-12 years, but with proper care - this is not the limit. There are also so-called long-livers, whose age is calculated at two decades.
Some of this depends on the breed of the cat.
Thai and Siamese. These cats are rightfully considered long-lived and live on average from 15 to 20 years. They have excellent health, they rarely get sick and mainly with respiratory diseases.
Savannah. Cats of this breed are not cheap. Their health is excellent, the normal weight is about 15 kg. At the same time, they live 12-20 years.
Siberian, Burmese and Ragdoll cats are no less healthy.
The Manx, which is famous for its lack of a tail, also made it onto this list, but you will have to monitor the pet's health, and very carefully.
Due to the fact that the breed was artificially bred, the animal suffers from a number of diseases.
The list of long-livers is completed by the so-called yard cats, or village cats.
Their genetic code is so intertwined that with proper care, these representatives of the feline family can easily live 20 years or more.
