Many cats are known to have a habit of "burying" their bowl after eating.
To us, this behavior of our pets seems completely senseless, but cats have good reasons for it.
There are three main reasons why cats do this.
The first is natural instinct. The cat tries to bury its food because that's what its wild ancestors did.
The second reason is competition with other pets living in the house.
In this case, the cat may not only “bury” the bowl, but also hide food throughout the apartment.
The third reason is the smell of stale food. Particularly picky cats "bury" food that has been exposed to air for only two or three hours.
