Experts believe that just as people perceive various movements of cats, pets “read” the movements of people, even the same stroking.
And if you were about to pet your pet, and it suddenly shied away from you, then the problem is in you, not in the cat.
These are the conclusions reached by researchers from the University of Nottingham.
How not to pet a cat
Scientists believe that the pet has parts of the body that are forbidden to touch. These include the back and the base of the tail.
Human touching of these areas causes the most unpredictable reactions in pets.
Also, you shouldn't try to pet a cat's belly without a reason, especially if it doesn't want to. This is one of the vulnerable spots, and it's logical that the animal is trying to protect itself. It's a different matter when cats stretch their belly upwards.
But if they suddenly turn around at a person’s movements and closely follow further actions, freeze, stop purring and start twitching their tail or ears, this is a sign of a bad mood.

Cats are extremely responsive to touching their cheeks, base of the ears, neck, and chin.
But the most important thing is to remember the quirks of your pet. After all, every cat has its own character.
