It is believed that cats and dogs are the first friends of fleas. But in addition to fleas, ticks and helminths, there is a whole galaxy of insects that parasitize in the fur of pets.

If you don't know about them, processing may seem like a waste of time and money.

Moreover, there is no guarantee that by walking only on paths, your pet will not pick up any of these pests.

1. Fleas

These are the real leaders of the rating. Fleas appear on pets not only from the street, but can even penetrate into apartments from basements or attics. But what is scary is not that fleas bite, but the pet scratches. Parasites can serve as carriers of diseases (brucellosis or plague), and also helminths.

2. Ticks

Not a single season goes by without them. Moreover, the bloodsuckers come to life from the slightest warmth. Ticks are not as active as fleas, but they carry no less dangerous diseases - piroplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, encephalitis. Here, one treatment of wool will not be able to protect the dog. Annual vaccination is needed.

3. Intradermal mite

It mainly attacks dogs living outside. Dogs can scratch themselves until they become inflamed, but it is still difficult to detect the tick. You will have to take them to a veterinary clinic and have their skin scraped.

4. Ear mites

It is found in street cats or cats that occasionally walk outside. The parasite is indicated by the cat's nervousness and frequent scratching of the ears.

5. Hair-eater

These pests live on the fur itself and are generally considered harmless. The damage is indicated by hair loss and the appearance of keratinized areas of skin. Sometimes it reaches dermatitis, and the dog can scratch the affected area until it bleeds.
