Can Cats Eat Fish: What Vets Say

Perhaps, just a few years ago, there was an opinion that fish was almost a panacea for the cat’s body.

In fact, this is not quite true, or rather, not true at all – due to the low-calorie protein and poor mineral composition, the animal develops a vitamin K deficiency, hyperthyroidism, urolithiasis and other pathologies.

If your pet is used to eating fresh fish, there is a risk of infection with helminths.

It is worth including raw or boiled fish in the cat's diet approximately 1-2 times a week, if we are talking about pets on a natural diet.

In this case, fish can be included in porridge, boiled vegetables, or offered as a separate dish.

Important: In both raw and cooked fish, you should remove all bones before giving it to your cat.

But smoked and salted fish are completely prohibited - due to the ingestion of large amounts of salt, the development of urolithiasis cannot be avoided.

If the cat consumes ready-made food with a high-quality composition, fish is completely contraindicated - this can result in a digestive disorder.
