You've probably noticed that some cats respond to "kitty-kitty" while others don't.

There are two main explanations for why some cats do not respond to this call.

The cat is not accustomed to "kitty-kitty"

Only a cat that is accustomed to this call will respond to “kitty-kitty”.

All domestic cats usually respond to "kitty-kitty", but a stray cat may ignore it.

It is also not possible to call a cat using "kitty-kitty" abroad.

Cats are addressed differently in different countries. For example, in France it is "minu-minu", in Japan it is "shu-shu", in the USA it is "kiti-kiti", in the Netherlands it is "pus-pus".

The cat does not consider it necessary to respond

If a cat doesn't want anything from its owner, it may ignore his calls.

Cats act solely in their own interests and have no intention of wasting their energy.
