Instead, follow these steps.
Imagine that you see five objects in your room. Say to yourself, “I am aware that I see…” (for example, “I am aware that I see a bed”).
Repeat the same for sounds. Say, “I am aware of hearing the sounds of cars outside the window.”
Then move on to sensations. Say: “I am aware that I feel the warmth of the blanket.”
Continue repeating this process, each time reducing the number of objects, sounds, and sensations by one.
