A serious traffic accident occurred in the Belarusian capital on Monday evening, November 4.

The driver of a foreign car did not give way to pedestrians - a 12-year-old girl and her mother were hit by his car.

The incident, which took place at around 18:20, was reported on its official Telegram channel by the press service of the Minsk State Traffic Inspectorate.

According to preliminary information from the department, at the specified time a Volkswagen driven by a 40-year-old driver was driving along Rotmistrov Street.

At the intersection with Bachilo Street, he did not give priority to pedestrians.

As a result, he hit a 38-year-old woman and her 12-year-old daughter, who were crossing the roadway at an unregulated pedestrian crossing at the time.

The mother and daughter were taken to one of the capital's hospitals for examination.

Employees of the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Zavodskoy District Department of Internal Affairs of Minsk were working at the scene of the accident, the press service noted.

In connection with the incident, law enforcement officers remind drivers of the need to reduce speed in advance when approaching a pedestrian crossing.

You should also be prepared to stop the car completely in order to give way to pedestrians.

And the traffic police recommend that the latter be extremely careful when crossing the roadway.

Before you go out onto the crossing, make sure that the current situation does not pose a danger, that is, there are no vehicles approaching the crossing or if they have stopped to let you cross.
