An additional Lastochka train will be launched between Minsk and Moscow

From November 1, they promise to launch an additional pair of Lastochka trains, which will run between Minsk and Moscow.

The State Secretary of the Union State, Dmitry Mezentsev, recently made such an announcement.

It has been confirmed that a new pair of Lastochka trains will be launched on the route from November 1, the MIA Rossiya Segodnya quotes the politician as saying.

Another "Swallow"

According to him, the possibility of increasing the volume of passenger transportation between the border regions of Belarus and Russia is also being considered.

In addition, the construction of a high-speed Moscow-Minsk highway is currently being determined.

Mezentsev spoke about this following a meeting between the head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov and his Belarusian colleague Valery Verenich.

It is noted that currently two Lastochka trains run daily between the capitals of the two countries. From November 1, another one will appear – train No. 719/720.

From Moscow, the train will depart on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from Minsk – on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays.

Other additional trains

From October 25, an additional train No. 251/252 St. Petersburg – Minsk will appear. It will depart on separate dates.

They will also increase the frequency of trains running from Moscow and St. Petersburg to Kaliningrad via Belarus.

New direct carriages will be organized on the Kaliningrad-Mineralnye Vody and Kaliningrad-Murmansk routes.

They will also be on the Smolensk-Saint Petersburg and Minsk-Murmansk routes.

Borderland

Border suburban transportation has already resumed on the routes Velikiye Luki – Polotsk, Novosokolniki – Polotsk, Smolensk – Orsha and Smolensk – Vitebsk.

In the near future, they plan to launch similar transportation between other large administrative centers of adjacent territories.

It is stated that over the first 8 months of this year, the number of passengers traveling by rail from Belarus to Russia and vice versa has increased by 20% compared to the same period last year – to almost 2 million people.

Of this number, approximately a quarter of passengers chose Lastochka trains for their trips.
