Couple Celebrating 70 Years of Marriage Reveals Main Secret to Strong Relationship
A 91-year-old husband and wife celebrated 70 years of marriage and shared what helped them live so long together.
Jimmy and Betty Murphy from Scotland celebrated their wedding anniversary, which is popularly called “the blessed anniversary,” on April 6.
The couple married in 1953, the Daily Record reports. They lived together for the next 70 years in Prestwick.
The head of the family worked in a construction company and then opened his own business. Betty worked as a shop window dresser and then became a housewife.
Only a few can boast of such a long marriage, so journalists asked the Murphys how they managed to live together for seven decades. According to the couple, the secret of their long and happy marriage is that they never stopped loving each other.
Jimmy and Betty raised five children, who now range in age from 51 to 69. They also have 10 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
By the way, after the “gracious” wedding comes the “crown” wedding, but it is celebrated 75 years after the marriage.
