On Wednesday afternoon, November 27, a serious incident occurred in Baranovichi – a child received burns and was hospitalized.
The incident occurred in one of the residential buildings located on Kolpenitskaya Street.
According to the press service of the Brest Regional Department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, according to one version, the cause of the emergency could have been children playing with fire.
According to available information, on that day, two young residents of the regional center were in the house without adult supervision.
One of them "suffered burns as a result of his clothes catching fire when he used a gas lighter."
The department clarifies: a nine-year-old child was injured. He was taken to the hospital, where he is currently in the intensive care unit (connected to a ventilator).
In turn, the press service of the Ministry of Health reported on its Telegram channel that specialists from the Republican Burn Center from Minsk arrived in Baranovichi to hold a national consultation to provide medical assistance to the injured child.
Larisa Zolotukhina, head of the anesthesiology and resuscitation department (burn patients with intensive care) of the Minsk City Clinical Emergency Hospital, and Igor Zelenko, head of the children's burn department of this institution, arrived at the district center.
Before their arrival, doctors from the local Central Regional Hospital took measures to stabilize the young patient’s condition.
Experts assess his condition as stable, serious. The boy is connected to a ventilator.
Due to the extensive burns on the victim, a decision was made to transfer him to the capital for further treatment.
Following the consultation, the treatment was adjusted and the tactics for transporting the patient to the Republican Burn Center of the Emergency Hospital were outlined, the ministry summed up.
