Fraudsters are still operating in Belarus, using various schemes to deceive citizens in order to get their money.
Creepy criminal minds have recently turned their attention to parenting chat rooms.
Their goal remains the same - to deceive and steal other people's money.
The press service of the Minsk Regional Executive Committee's Internal Affairs Directorate reported this on its official Telegram channel.
Fraudsters have started using parent chats to extort money, the report says.
The agency draws attention to the fact that fraudsters are actively using new methods of deception.
In particular, they send out invitations to parent chats where they organize “prize drawings.”
They also organize various types of voting and surveys on topics that most concern parents and students.
In addition, scammers publish all sorts of “discounts” (which in fact do not exist), supposedly carried out as part of “promotions”, but these “promotions” are also a scam.
In connection with the above, Belarusians should be extremely careful when communicating in various chats, including parental ones, and not follow any suspicious links.
Even more so, you should not give strangers your bank card details, passport data and other personal information, even if they tearfully persuade you or resort to threats.
The easiest way to discourage persistent requesters of your data is to notify them that you will call the police. In this case, it is better to stop communicating with them immediately.
Well, if they directly ask you to transfer money or hand it over to couriers (alas, this is not uncommon) - immediately stop all dialogue with such a person and, if possible in a messenger or social network, block him.
