The Baltic countries will disconnect from the BRELL energy system, which is shared with Russia and Belarus, on February 8 next year.
This information was announced on September 19 by the head of the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy Dainius Kreivys on LRT.

As the Lithuanian minister reported, disconnection from BRELL is planned for February 8.
According to Kreivys, the day after the power outage, the power grids of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will be synchronized with the European ones.
Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia will disconnect from BRELL on February 8 and conduct a test of operation in an isolated mode, the minister said.
In August, the heads of government of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia signed a declaration on synchronising their power grids with European ones.
The plan agreed with the European Commission envisages disconnection from BRELL and connection to the European system via Poland by February next year.
